Steak Kabobs with Peanut Sauce
By Rob Barrett. These are an American take on an Asian favourite. The peanut sauce is a must make.
INGREDIENTS
- 1-2 lb top sirloin
- Skewers
- 1 can coconut milk
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp curry, powder
- 1 tsp coriander seeds, ground
- 3 tbsp peanut butter
- 2 tsp fish sauce
- 1 tsp Thai red curry paste
- 1 tsp Tamarind paste, optional
DIRECTIONS
- Cut meat into equal cubes about 1-inch thick.
- In a big bowl combine 1/2 can (1/4 cup) coconut milk, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon sugar, 2 tablespoon curry powder, and 1 teaspoon ground coriander (grind in a mortar and pestle if necessary).
- Marinate meat in above concoction for 2-3 hours. Remove and put on skewers.
- Grill skewers for 2 minutes a side or until done.
In a small pan, combine 1/2 can coconut milk, 3 tablespoons sugar, 3 tablespoons peanut butter, 2 teaspoons fish sauce, 1 teaspoons Thai red curry paste. Optional - 1 teaspoon tamarind paste.
- Heat over medium heat until combined and peanut butter is dissolved. Serve over kabobs.
